History
Clearview Terrace Apartments were developed by the Greater Hanover Housing Corporation, a non-profit body of citizens concerned about housing for low-income senior citizens (62 and over) and disabled individuals. The purpose of the organization is to provide on a non-profit basis, rental housing and related facilities and services especially designed to meet the physical, social, and psychological needs of aging and disabled persons and contribute to their health, security, happiness and usefulness in longer living.
The first board meeting was held June 5, 1967. The process was immediately initiated to obtain federal fundraising for the first 50 units know as our Clearview Terrace I section. Groundbreaking for the first 50 apartments was November 1, 1969, and residents moved in October 1971.
The need for adequate housing continued and Clearview Terrace II was funded by local lending institutions. In January 1979, the next 62 apartments received the first occupants.
A third building project was completed in November 2003 with 24 apartments fully occupied. An additional 4 apartments were added in the Clearview Terrace III section in 2022.
The waiting list for an apartment exceeds eighty individuals and couples. These numbers alone attest to the never ending need for affordable housing in the Hanover area and beyond.

Mission
To fulfill the mission of the Greater Hanover Housing Corporation, the organization provides housing, and plans social activities such as bingo, bowling, monthly birthday parties, special events like musical guests and holiday celebrations. Vital services are provided on a daily or weekly basis such as our hot meal program, transportation to medical appointments, blood pressure screenings, subsidized bus trips and grocery shopping.
Our administrative staff, Wanda Shaffer and Kathy Little help residents with applications to government programs such as APPRISE, rent rebates, and information and referral to social service agencies.
